The quiescent centre (QC) is the organiser of the root stem cell niche and its destruction causes differentiation in the stem cells, and anomalous root development (Van den Berg et al., 1997). The QC is identified by the expression of the QC-promoter trap QC25 (Della Rovere et al., 2013, Goh et al., 2016).
